Alexandra Maria Lara was born in Romania and is now a Romanian/German actress. Her best-known films include Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. As the only children to Romanian actor Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra entered showbiz early and landed up playing lead roles in different shows on television by the time she reached the age of 16. After her critically acclaimed role in the TV movie Der Tunnel, Alexandra went on to play other noteworthy parts, including Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudljunge on Downfall. The film received nominations for an Oscar and won critical and commercial success. The Reader is another Oscar nominated movie featuring this actress. Alexandra is well-known for her participation in a variety of noteworthy projects both domestically and internationally. They include the British biographical films Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time and French historic miniseries Napoleon as well as other miniseries. She was also a member of both jury for the Cannes Film Festival jury and Transylvania International Film Festival.
